Special,
renamed "Bella" is a little one year old
black/tan min pin that was found on the side of the road. She could not walk or move
her hind legs at all. A wonderful volunteer took Special to her vet and had
x-rays where it was determined Special has an incurable spinal injury and will
never be able to use her hind legs again. The original rescue that took her in,
IMPS, wanted to euthanize her because they felt she wouldn't have a "quality
life". We were contacted by one of IMPS's volunteers asking us if we'd take her
into our rescue, buy her a special wheelchair so she would be more mobile, and find a forever
home for her.
Of course, we said "no problem" and took Special into our rescue.
We purchased her a wheelchair and posted her as our "featured story" on our
petfinder page and website. Needless to say, people's hearts poured out to
Special and donations came in like crazy, we were able to order her wheelchair
almost immediately, and inquiries about adopting her started coming into our email
inbox almost daily. Within a month we found a wonderful couple who, after hearing all about
Special's needs and long term care, decided they wanted to adopt her. On
Mother's Day 2007 Special met her forever parents and started her journey of a
loving, QUALITY FILLED, life with Jane and Gord in Ontario, Canada. They're
renamed her "Bella" but she will always be our "Special" little girl. Now, how's
that for a success story, heh?
