Last bus leaves at 9:30AM. Try to be there EARLY because they have a lot of people to shuttle and everyone wants to wait till the end (last year about 50 people did not make the parade because the shuttles stopped running). Please let us know what size tee shirt you need. If you have one from the 4th of July parade you can wear that one......it is the same shirt for the Sept. 20th parade. Water and doggie bowls will be provided but please bring a spray bottle of water to cool your dog's head and feet throughout the parade. Be sure all dogs have their rabies and ID tags on their collars. All dogs MUST BE LEASHED. Parade ends at the Better in Mentor Days setup (behind the High School) where you'll find plenty of food, entertainment, and stuff for sale. Some kiddie rides will also be there. Email: minimutts@windstream.net if you have any questions. ############################################################################################################################# Mini Mutts Rescue 5th Annual Reunion Picnic Saturday, August 9th, 2008 Record breaking attendance of over 100 people. This is little Freddie. He came to our rescue a scared little boy
because he had very little human contact. He was used to breed and make
puppies for pet stores.
The first couple weeks of Freddie's stay in our rescue consisted of him hiding from us. We had to keep a leash on him in order to find him and be able to take him outside for potty. He was a very good boy in his crate because he was so scared. Eventually Freddie learned to trust us. I can still remember the day he jumped up on the couch to cuddle just like the other dogs. I guess he was getting jealous and didn't want to miss out. I also remember his first kiss. Boy, did I cry happy tears then. Freddie turned into such a loving, wonderful little dog. I wouldn't have minded if he never found a forever home! LOL But a wonderful couple fell in love with him on our petfinder site, sent us an application, and Freddie was soon meeting his new mom and dad. During the adoption we discovered Freddie loves to play "ball". Boy, he can do that for hours! His new mom and dad love him dearly and we're so happy for Freddie. |

Grandma's Brag Section
Brianna Christine - Born 4/22/06
Carla Nelson's (Founder) - first grandchild
Saying "Cheese!" Woohoo, swimming pool! Popsicle face. Grandma's new kitten.
Brianna is walking and running and running and running now. Boy, I have forgotten how much energy a toddler has! Brianna is such a joy to have around and reminds me so much of my daughter, her mother. Brianna is a big helper when she visits and has absolutely no fear whatsoever of any of the dogs, big or little. I think this is wonderful. She's my "Littlest Rescuer" and will hopefully take over Mini Mutts when I retire. I can't believe this little girl is already 28 months old! Click HERE to see Brianna in action! (Must have current version of Quicktime Player to see this movie) Keep checking back for updates because this Grandma is proud to show off this little bundle of joy!

Click here to read about our Mini Mutt "Star" - Jared! He successfully completed Obedience Training 101 and became the "star" of the class. This is wonderful news considering his extensive energy and short concentration span!

The holidays have come and gone but you can still buy your mattress protector. Birthdays, anniversaries, etc. are all year round. FURBABIES has the product that will stand out among the rest and your gift will be remembered week after week after week! Protect-A-Bed Mattress Protector Every rescuer and pet owner knows that dogs and cats will, from time to time, have an accident. As our pets get older, they can have trouble controlling their bladders and that tummy ache or accident no longer has to ruin your mattress. Why sleep on uncomfortable plastic liners, when Protect-A-Bed offers mattress protection and a comfortable night's rest? |
Girl Scouts earn their Pet Care Badge

Girl Scout Troup #410 visited Mini Mutts Rescue on Friday, June 6, 2008, to learn about animals and how to properly care for them. We talked about caring for dogs including vet care, we talked about different diseases and prevention, and we learned about rescue in general. The girls all took a quiz before playing with the mini mutts and passed with flying colors! The highlight of the day, of course, was playing with the dogs and learning about each one and how they came into rescue. The girls then surprised me with a check, monies they earned from cookie sales, and an envelope of cash earned from Mrs. Watson's 4th grade class @ Leroy School from their chocolate sale. I was given specific instructions to save a puppymill dog with the cash which we will do as soon as we can.
Send us an email to learn how your troop can earn their Pet Care Badge.

And they're BAAAAACK!!!
YOUTH TO THE RESCUE!
Thu., June 12th, we had MANY kids come out to help Mini Mutts with some much needed Spring Cleaning. The children broke off in groups and helped with walking and playing with the dogs, cleaning out the first building so I can paint, and general organizing. They surprised me with a couple buckets of home made dog biscuits and several bags of home made tennis ball throw toys! Our little mini mutts will have their own special toy to take home with them when they get adopted. I didn't get everyone's name but whoever made the banner you did a wonderful job. The dogs had a wonderful time and so did the kids.

Thanks to all who participated and especially the adults for planning such an adventure!
THANK YOU!!!!
ps. Watch our website for a special T-Shirt we will be selling to advertise Mini Mutts Rescue. All monies from T-Shirt sales will go directly to saving little dogs on death row.
